1. The best way, I think, is to install
the US-International Keyboard. Go to
Control Panel, and select Regional and Language Options. Click on the Languages tab, then press Details.
On the middle right side, click on Add.
Check the box next to Keyboard Layout, use the pulldown menu to select
US-International, then press OK.
You should now have an icon on the lower right section of your screen that
looks like a keyboard. Click on it to
select the US-International keyboard.
For ä, ö and ü, press shift/”, then a, o or u. For ß, press right alt/s. For é, press ‘/e, for è, press `/e, for
¿, right alt/?, for ñ, shift/~, then n, for ç, right alt/,

2. Alternately, make sure num lock
is on. Use the numbers on the number pad on the right side of the keyboard. Keep
the alt key pressed as you press the four-digit code.
