Why Study Japanese?

Think about future employment opportunities both in Indiana and abroad.Did you know that..

·  .the Japan America Society of Indiana has over 700 corporate sponsors bothAmerican and Japanese?

·  .Japan is one of our largest trading partners and it is the leading economicand technological power in Asia?

·  .economists and businesspeople agree that the Pacific Rim will be the centerof economic development in the 21st century?

Stand out among the rest!!  Challenge yourself and study aunique, lesser known language. Colleges and universities WILL take notice!!

But isn't it too difficult?

Japanese is, without a doubt, a challenge. However, if it is presentedin a logical, organized manner, it can seem deceptively easy. It can alsobe fun, and it will bring out the artistic side in you as you learn towrite in Japanese characters! Listen to a few quotes from previous first-yearJapanese students:

·  "It's fun, easy and useful. It's so much easier than it looks."

·  "It's a very different, interesting, out of the usual experience. It'seasy to learn if you put effort in learning it."

·  "It's fun! We learn about Japanese culture and things about Japanese people. We can speak a different language from others."

·  "I think a good reason to take Japanese is because there are many companieshere run by Japanese people. There will be a need for us to be able tocommunicate with these people and do business with them."
